Why Diets Backfire 05/04/2011 It is easy to see how diets wreck our metabolism. Any diet that tries to cut back drastically on anything from calories to carbs is doomed from the start because it doesn't work with how the human body works. It seems logical: eat less, burn more, lose weight, but the only true way to lose is to go from a weight loss mentality to a fat loss mentality. To weight-loss minded people you should exercise as long as possible, after all, it takes 250 calories to offset the 1/2 of a Snickers bar
